A born and raised Tasmanian, Michael commenced his legal career in Queensland as a generalist civil litigation and criminal lawyer, and has acted for a range of clients from everyday people to sizeable corporations. During his time in the Sunshine State he also played an instrumental role in building, and managing a thriving, successful criminal practice. Not unlike many native Tasmanians, Michael couldn’t hack the “mainland”, and eventually returned to Tasmanian soil after several years interstate. He now focuses on civil litigation, wills and estates, and criminal matters. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of Tasmania and the High Court of Australia.
Michael adopts a straight-forward, pragmatic approach to legal disputes, and provides clear, plain-English advice to his clients in an effort to simplify what is usually a difficult and stressful time in their lives.
Outside of the law, Michael enjoys exploring Tasmania’s wonderful backyard, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or twirling spanners under the bonnet of one of his cars.
